The Student Health Service Pharmacy is operated by the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.  Students may obtain prescriptions and over-the-counter medications as well as various health and beauty aids.  The pharmacy staff provides excellent patient education and consultations to assist you in your health care decisions.  

Services Provided
The FAMU pharmacy carries the most common prescription medications and contraceptives.  Students can fill prescriptions written by student health service providers and community providers at discount prices with the convenience of using the university pharmacy.  Prescriptions may be called in from your private physician.  Prescriptions can also be transferred to our pharmacy from your pharmacy at home.

The pharmacy also carries many over-the-counter products and health and beauty aids.  These products may include:

  • acne medication,
  • anti-fungals,
  • bath and beauty products,
  • condoms,
  • diabetic supplies,
  • lotions,
  • pain medications,
  • sports cream,
  • toothpaste, and
  • vitamins.

Pharmacy services include:

  • Outpatient prescription dispensing
  • Drug interaction information
  • Patient education
  • Medication review and monitoring
  • Consultations
  • Classroom and residence hall presentations

 

  • Payment for Prescriptions
    Currently enrolled students do not have to pay for medications at the time the prescription is filled.  Pharmacy charges are applied to the student account.

     

  • Insurance
    The FAMU Pharmacy does not accept insurances at this time.  Pharmacy staff will complete claim forms presented by students so they may receive reimbursement from their insurance carrier.
