Carrington M. Whigham
Student Body President & University Trustee
Carrington McKenzie Whigham is a third-year Broadcast Journalism major and Theater minor from the city where things are indeed “bigger and better”, Dallas, Texas. Carrington humbly serves as the Student Body Vice President for Florida A&M University Student Government Association. She is a third-generation rattler and the daughter of Centennial SGA president, Andrew Whigham III, and Dr. Deardra Hayes- Whigham. In the Fall of 2018 Carrington was elected as a freshman senator for the class of 2022, serving on the Elections and Appointments Committee. Her sophomore year, she was appointed as the Elections and Appointments chairwoman for the 49th and 50th student senate. She has served as a First-Year Experience Peer Mentor and holds the title as Miss Kappa Alpha Psi. She is also a proud member of the Original Beta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, where she serves as the Connections chair. Though she is heavily involved on campus, Carrington continues to excel academically having been selected as one of Texas Senator Royce West interns, through the Dr. Emmett J. Conrad Leadership Program. Through this intensive program, Carrington has had the privilege of interning at UT Southwestern Academic Medical Center, in the office of Communications, Marketing, and Public Affairs. Carrington is most looking forward to serving the student body to ensure an amazing academic year. She is a firm believer in James 2:14, “Faith without works is dead”. This verse fuels Carrington with the mindset to successfully be a dedicated servant, friend, and leader.
Marcus Thomas
Student Body Vice President
Marcus Thomas is a first generation Rattler who is grateful to serve his constituents and university. As a Sophomore Business Administration scholar from Pensacola, Florida he serves as the Senate President Pro-Tempore for Florida A&M University Student Government Association 50th Student Senate. Marcus begin his service in SGA as a freshman senator in the 49th Student Senate, where he answered the call at a very early start as the E&A Vice-Chair and shortly after the E&A Chairman. Alongside his experience in leadership he has written and sponsored six pieces of legislation. Marcus is dedicated to service and has made countless contributions in his hometown. He also serves the University as an Orange & Green Tour Guide where he actively recruits prospective students by showcasing our illustrious University. He is also a member of the FAMU Kinship of Big Brother Little Brother Mentoring Program, Inc. While he is committed to forward progress even in his early stages of leadership, it is his hopes to make a long lasting impact on his community.
