Friday, August 19: Palmetto South, Palmetto Phase 3
Saturday, August 20: Everyone who has not checked in

Time blocks will be between 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM by appointment only.  With thousands of residents moving in each semester, we stagger the check-in times and dates in order to provide everyone the best move-in experience possible. Please schedule your move-in time according to your specific hall move-in date. 

The primary vehicle route shall be Wahnish Way, Gaines Street, Osceola Street, and Perry Street (both directions). Emergency vehicles shall be given priority for Travel if an emergency incident occurred.

Move-In

Once the student has been given the approval to begin moving their belongings into their room, parents/ guardians may move their vehicle to the unloading area of the residence hall. Because parking is limited, unloading zones are for temporary parking only. Campus police will be present to offer directions and parking restrictions.

Carts – or large wheeled bins – and dollies are provided for students on a first-come-first-serve basis and may be checked out for a limited time. To check outcart or dolly, residents will need to provide an identification card. There is a limit to one cart/dolly per person. We reccomend you bring your own dolly/hand truck to assist with your move-in.
Elevator access is offered in the following residential facilities: Polkinghorne Village, FAMU Towers, Sampson Hall, Young Hall, and Palmetto Street Phase III. Palmetto Street South and North do not have elevators, so please plan accordingly.
To avoid getting overwhelmed on Move-In Day, some items may be brought or shipped at a more convenient date.
  • Face coverings are encouraged for all persons assisting in the move-in process.
  • Staff within the facilities will be conducting temperature checks.
  • We encourage all participates to follow social distancing from others.
  • There will be a limited number of carts available at the residence halls for students to use during the move-in process, we strongly encourage you to bring your own moving supplies.
  • In order to adhere to our internal safety protocols, residents will be only able to have a maximum of two guests to assist them while moving in.
  • There will not be any volunteers assisting during Move-In.
  • If you or anyone attending move-in with you are feeling sick or displaying the symptoms of COVID-19, you may not come to campus and will need to reschedule your move-in time.
  • Please follow the FAMU COVID-19 FAQ for guidelines on reporting illness.
  • Proof of vaccination or a negative test result is required within 3 days of your scheduled move-in appointment: Upload Proof of Vaccination or Negative Test Result

What Not To Bring

Tobacco: FAMU is a tobacco free campus, this includes use of electronic cigarettes and vape pens Alcohol: University policy prohibits the possession, consumption, or storage of any alcoholic beverages or containers.  Drugs: The use, sale or possession of any illegal drugs and/or drug paraphernalia is prohibited. 
Extension cords – Fire Marshal prohibits use of extension cords (only surge protectors are allowed) Open coil heating or cooking devices (toaster ovens, hot plates, space heaters, air fryers) String lights such as Christmas lights unless battery operated
Weapons: Guns (including plastic/wooden replications), knives, ammunition, bombs, slingshots, gasoline, firework, explosives and other items that could be used or mistaken for a weapon are prohibited.
