Spring '22 – Hall Closing Information

Dear FAMU Residential Student,

The Spring 2022 semester is swiftly ending. We know that finishing the semester successfully is consuming a great deal of your time and you are beginning to shift your focus toward studying for and completing finals. We would also like you to remember, spring closing of all facilities is approaching as well. As such, we wanted to take this time to remind you of some very important dates and details as it relates to the closing of your facility.

THE CHECKOUT PROCESS IS AS FOLLOWS FOR EVERYONE:

• UTLIZE YOUR FACILITY’S LINK TO A SCHEDULE A MOVE OUT DATE/TIME.
  • This form will become available Thursday, April 7, 2022, at 8 a.m. from your Resident Director.
  • You should schedule your move out as soon as feasible.
• PRIOR TO REQUESTING TO BE CHECKED OUT, ALL OF THE FOLLOWING SHOULD BE COMPLETED:
  • You must have every personal item out of the ROOM AND BUILDING upon arriving to the office to REQUEST to be checked out.
  • Discard all trash in the trash receptacles in the parking lot.
  • Clean all surfaces including, but not limited to floors, sinks, toilets, and showers.
  • Empty all drawers and closets.
  • Remove all items from the walls and doors.
• COME TO THE OFFICE AND TO BE CHECKED OUT AT THE TIME YOU SCHEDULED TO CHECK OUT
  • If you have not followed the previously listed instructions when RA enters the room, the RA will leave to go check someone else out. You will have to come back to the office after completing the tasks AND wait in line to be checked out.
  • Please inform your ride (family, friends, etc.) that this process takes about 20 minutes after the RA enters the room.
• UPON COMPLETION OF CHECKING YOUR ROOM, YOU AND THE RA WILL RETURN TO THE OFFICE TO FINISH PAPERWORK.
  • Signing of room condition form, returning of keys (bedroom and access card), and signing of Registration form
• ONCE YOU ARE PROPERLY CHECKED OUT, YOU MAY NOT RETURN TO THE ROOM.

SCHEDULED CHECK OUT HOURS: APRIL 24 – APRIL 30: 8 A.M. – 8 P.M. | 
MAY 1: 8 A.M. – 11 A.M. 

FAILURE TO FOLLOW PROPER PROCEDURES WILL RESULT IN CHARGES TO YOUR STUDENT ACCOUNT:

• $150 for failure to return each room key assigned to you.
• $25 for failure to return each access card assigned to you.
• $300 for improper checkout (such as not following directions and cleaning your room thoroughly,
  leaving without signing your paperwork and returning keys, etc.)
• $75 dollars for leaving trash (per bag) or personal items left within the room and other areas which
  must be removed by staff members. (ALL TRASH GOES TO THE DUMPSTERS ONLY)
• Fines as listed on the Room Condition Form

SUMMER SCHOOL HOUSING RESERVATIONS

If you plan to stay on campus for the summer A, B, or C, please contact the Office of University Housing immediately at 850-599-3651 or famuhousing@famu.edu for information on housing options. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE VERY LAST DAY OF CLOSING TO DO THIS

Lastly, beginning April 22 through April 29, quiet hours will be strictly enforced 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. It is our hope that everyone will be courteous to your fellow students and create an atmosphere ideal in preparing for the challenges that will face you all the week of finals. Have a successful remainder of the semester and good luck for the remainder of the semester.
