DCSS Divisions & Departments

The FAMU Department of Campus Safety and Security is a full-service law enforcement agency providing safety, security, enforcement, and other related services to the university community, on a 24-hour-a-day basis, 7-days-a-week.

Established and promulgated through Florida State Statute 1012.97, FAMU sworn officers have complete police authority to apprehend and arrest anyone involved in illegal acts on campus and areas immediately adjacent to the campus.

If minor offenses involving University rules and regulations are committed by a University student, officers may also refer the individual to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution/Dean of Students. Major offenses may involve joint investigative efforts with other local and state law enforcement agencies.

The prosecution of all criminal offenses, both felony and misdemeanor, are conducted at county, state and federal court levels.
